To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.” Psalms 25:1

Walk in the Faith: Make your journey with Christ a continuous one towards Him. Here are two simple ways to dive deeper into scripture by giving and receiving the most that He has in stored for you.

Guide to Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina (Latin meaning: Reading Divine) Steps:

  1. Lectio (Reading)
  2. Meditatio (Meditation)
  3. Oratio (Praying/Speaking)
  4. Contemplatio (Contemplation & Action)

Since you probably don’t speak Latin, it might be easier to remember the steps as:
Read, Reflect, Respond, and Rest

Catherine of Sieana Institute Steps:

  1. Image Yourself in His Presence – Actually being there in the scripture or physically being with Jesus Christ
  2. Offer Him What is on Your Heart – Offering any troubles before Him so that these things may not hinder your ability to hear His Word
  3. Open Up with Scripture – Read a paragraph or small chapter, the focus on the content not the length
  4. Talk About What is Coming Up for You – Lay your worries and trouble at the foot of the Cross
  5. Asking “Is there anything else?” and “Thank You” – Being open to any last request He has for you a humble servant does and thank God for the precious time with Him

Have you ever left Mass feeling like the homily just wasn’t satisfactory? In this video, Father Mike Schmitz shows us how to always gain what we need from the Sunday readings, regardless of the quality of the homily. Father Mike also tells us not to be so hard on priests when they miss the mark, because their job is harder than it seems from the pew.
