Late this summer, more news about sexual abuse by Catholic priests in Pennsylvania and by former Cardinal McCarrick surfaced. These included allegations by the former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Vigano who said that Pope Francis knew about McCarrick but that the Pope continued to allow McCarrick to serve in the Church. I spoke about these things on September 2nd in my homily. Bishop Sirba has also addressed this issue in a letter to the people of the Diocese. I would also ask that you continue to pray that God cleanse and purify the Church and that you pray for healing for the victims.
